Tales Of Diamond Walker — Ted Stilles

Tales Of Diamond Walker began with a challenge I set myself: write and complete one song a day for 30 days.

I was learning my way around GarageBand, following ideas wherever they took me. Somewhere in that process, a character named Diamond Walker emerged. What started as a daily recording exercise grew into a collection of musical episodes, with Diamond Walker as the thread connecting them.

Thirteen songs from that challenge joined five earlier recordings on my limited-edition 2018 CD, GarageBand Chronicles Volume One. Here in the boutique, those five earlier songs have their own collection, The First Five. Tales Of Diamond Walker brings together 23 songs from the challenge period, giving this part of the story its own space.

I shared these recordings on SoundCloud, but never fully pursued the larger concept. In the meantime, I put together a live band and began performing, before the pandemic changed our plans and led me toward the home-studio recordings that became Wenson.

This collection captures Diamond Walker as he first appeared: a character discovered through the practice of showing up, making music, and seeing where the next song would lead.

Listen to the complete title track in the video above. The full collection contains 23 short songs, with a total running time of approximately 26 minutes.
